The California Athletics & Physical Education Workshop promotes interest in professional advancement for physical educators at the elementary and secondary levels. Through a comprehensive curriculum, the workshop provides opportunities for professional development in the areas of physical education, health, recreation and dance. 

This week-long, educational experience includes standards-based lesson planning, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to all CAPE participants and can be purchased and registered for at Cal Poly Extended Education website or at arrival of workshop.

      Did you know that “combatives” is part of the California State P.E. Standards 1-3: Course 2 for high school physical education? In 2017, Erin’s Law required sexual assault prevention training to be taught in grades K-12. This certification will train PE teachers to teach various self-protection strategies to their students. The course content includes: verbal self-defense & de-escalation techniques, bullying prevention, avoidance safety information, stranger awareness vs. acquaintance assaults and physical self-defense techniques that are practical and easy to remember.

Campus Lodging is provided in Poly Canyon Village (PCV) Apartments, an easy walking distance to all workshop activities and meals.
